Welll, Ezius is not an executioner, nor a murderer, so I suppose that the fireshow is to show Galak that using mages in war is a last resort only strategy – unless you want to live in a place burned to the ground – again, making Galak’s motives silly and short-sighted. Otherwise, I suppose, he’d just toast Galak into a crispy piece of man-bacon 😛
