Hey guys! The good news is I’m not dead, and the further good news is that I’ve seen a physiotherapist about my back and it seems like it’s a fixable, posture-related issue, rather than something much more chronic, which was my concern for quite a while. I’m currently stretching the wonkiness away, and it seems to be working.
I still don’t have a date for when updates will resume, but they will resume. I’m slowly getting used to working at the computer again, and I’ve been doing a bunch of writing and others bits and bobs for RMR during all of this downtime, so I should be able to hit the ground running!
In the meantime, this wonderful piece of art was provided by my very talented friend Matt Davis. Thanks, Matt. 🙂

Hurrah! Glad you’re feeling better and it’s nothing terribly serious. Take your time getting better, I know I’ll be keeping an eye out for updates whenever they resume.

That sounds good! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that your back doesn’t turn against you again. Hope you’re feeling better already! 🙂

Glad you are semi back in the saddle. Well wishes for your back.

Yay! So glad to hear the physiotherapist is able to help you with your wonky back! 🙂 Take your time healing, rushing things never works out well. We’ll be here waiting 😀

YAY!! Physiotherapists FTW!!! ;-))

Things like inversion tables work to stretch and straighten-out backs and re-align those wonky muscles and bones. (But if you’re not lucky your head explodes from the pressure!) Better you stick to your physical therapy.
>>And wearing your pneumatic protection suit, and goggles!<<
That's a pretty good logo, but it's not your style.

Glad to read that you feel better !

Your back!!! Glad to know your doing better. Update when you can, your health is far more important.

Posture related, eh? Do you sit at your computer desk/drafting table? If sitting for long periods is hurting your back maybe you should look into a stand-up desk/table.

I wish you continued good luck. Your work continues to inspire, even in the midst of your absence.

Man, I love this comment. Ok, so here’s the deal: my back’s feeling a lot better, but I lost a lot of time while it was messed up.
I’ve had to prioritise freelance work that was ongoing in November when I first started having back pain, these people paid me for a service and have been extremely generous in allowing me time to sort myself out, have literally waited months on me. I’m happy to say I’m nearly done playing catch up, I only have one outstanding project left, a book cover that’s very nearly finished.
In addition I’ve been taking the opportunity while I’m both healthy and not constantly updating (which has not happened in years to be honest) to do some work for the comic on the back end – setting up resources and exploring new processes to help me work on the comic more quickly. Things like making a custom brush library to speed up background painting, as well as writing ahead as much as I can. I guess I’m tired of limping along at a page a week, I really want to update more often without also burning myself out. That means working smarter rather than harder.
Anyway, long story short, I’m not sitting on my hands – the comic will absolutely, definitely continue soon. And fuck, I love your enthusiasm! Thanks, man.

You’ve had some tough luck lately, but I’m happy you’re not about to give up on the comic. And I’m not about to give up on the comic either, so I guess I stopped by again at the right moment and goodness, I’m glad about it. I can only repeat what TheTitan421 said about your work: Fucking amazing.

Yesss!!! Fighting the repetitive workload!

Go, Rose, Go!! 😀 Thank you for the update and don’t forget to keep us posted please! Cannot wait for the comic to continue and maybe to hear more of the soundtrack??? *blinks wistfully*

Sorry, I didn’t see this until now! And thanks for the encouragement. 🙂 But absolutely, I can share some more music. Since we’re deep down in the comment section I’ve got one I’ve been holding on to for a while now, I think it’s actually my favourite out of everything I’ve composed: The Courtyard
It’s supposed to be set towards the end of the first arc, when Renshou and Danil clash. It’s basically a rearrangement of both Danil and Airin’s themes together with a level of…melancholy escalation, I guess? I’m never sure how to describe music, I guess that’s what fun about making it! Hope you like it.
Zonk
That song’s quite nice, indeed.
ChristineA
Oh, I love it!!!! Thanks for sharing, Rose. I do hope you get to publish it, I would love to have a copy for my “Writing playlist”. I’m working on my 2nd book and your music fits perfectly with what i like to listen to while writing.
Jeb
NOOOOOOO!! when is the next page out!? I just got caught up with the comic! Please get better!
Kyethn
Soon, I promise! Most likely early May. Sorry you went through the whole archive only to catch up mid-hiatus.
Rowan
Feel better soon! We will definitely wait for you.
Kyethn
Thanks! It shouldn’t be too much longer now.
VoidHamlet
Take your time. It’s been quite a journey so far … oh yes, I’m one of those quiet creepers. Move along. Nothing to see here.
Kelly
Just found your webcomic recently, and have devoured the archives. Loving it! I’ve really enjoyed the posts underneath too, especially the edit from the future ones, and the ones about being in NZ, since I’m a kiwi 🙂
