Collection: Part One: Waterlogged
Sorry about the missing updates! Needless to say, I’m fussing and hemming and hawing about this scene far too much, but I’m kind of desperate to make sure it’s all just so. Pacing-wise, composition-wise… everything-wise. Going to try and push on some more, though. It’s a silly reason to miss updates.
Welp.
I can already tell early on this entire chapter is going to be a giant bitch to do, mainly because I’ve been mulling over these particular scenes in various incarnations for over three years now. Putting them to paper is going to be a rather extreme exercise in not letting perfectionism take over. D:
Also, it’s going to be equally difficult not to run my mouth and spoil everything. shutting up now
Back! And kicking off chapter 13 for propers now. Also my wrist is feeling a lot better, thanks for all the tips and stuff, commenting people. 🙂 Seems like it just needed some rest.
Just to clarify since a couple of people seemed practically terrified at the prospect, this isn’t the last chapter of Red Moon Rising, just the last* chapter of this arc. Consider it like the season finale. Plenty more to come, I’m going to be at this for years yet at this rate.
*Note from the future: Second last.
I’ll come right out with the bad news that there’s going to be no update on Thursday. I’m writing this on Friday (Hello from the past! What is the future like???) and scheduling it to post on Monday, which it will hopefully do. Unfortunately Thursday’s update is fully inked, partially coloured and several hundred miles away from me at this point. I just couldn’t finish it on time before I had to leave, and oh how I did try. I am so sleep deprived right now.
Anyway, what I’m getting at is that you’ll have to comfort yourselves with your hovercars and space elevators and whatnot until I get back. FAREWELL
All will return to normal by next Monday. In regards to the cover itself, oh yeah, this plot thread. That one from eight months ago. That guy with the… knife-related difficulties. Righto. Does anyone remember him? Well, I’m sure he’s fine, anyway.
What the-
The end of the chapter? Could it be?? Those of you keeping track may have noticed this chapter started in January. Phew. While there’s been a lot of stops and starts with the updating I have to say, this was also just a bloody long chapter. And good news! The next one will almost definitely be even longer! Shoot me now.
In fact, the next chapter is actually the last chapter* of this whole story arc. Two and a half years, and things are finally going to come to some sort of head. Exciting, I hope.
On a more immediate note there’s going to be a week’s break between now and the start of chapter 14. A few reasons, but mainly my wrist is killing me and I’d rather not wreck it completely if I ever want to finish the comic. So I’m going to spend a bit of time either resting it or learning to drawing with my left hand. I also don’t want to rush right into the next chapter since, as I said, it’s an important one.
So! Thanks for reading, everyone. You guys are the best. I don’t think I say it enough but I’m very grateful to be making RMR and to have this kind of support. /6am soppiness
Chapter 13 starts on Monday the 8th!
*Note from the future: This is a massive lie since there ended up being two chapters after this.
that oughta shut her up
Phew. I suppose it’s my own fault for thumbnailing an 8 panel page but this still took forever and now my wrist is sore. Even my anti-RSI software is flashing angrily at me to stop working. Everyone’s a critic.
And I kept forgetting to post this – apologies to Iz Elliot who did some cracking fanart and sent it to me like two weeks ago. The moral of today’s post is that I’m an idiot and Iz is cool. Thanks Iz! 🙂
Edit: Oh right, I made a Tumblr. For tumblin’, I guess? I’m using it to post up sketches and page previews and junk at the moment, so if you like my art or something crazy like that you may want to check it out.
Hey, it’s that guy! In the comments section on the previous page I may have suggested that I killed Galak off while no one was looking and that he was never coming back. That was a typo. My bad!
Slightly late again, but I come bearing wallpapers this time! Wallpapers of dour people against dramatic, vague backdrops. So I assume we are cool. *fistbump*
If you want a size that isn’t already already available, let me know down in the comments and I will magically make it happen for you.

Updates! Terrible late updates! I’m doing my best to keep on top of all of this right now, but the site’s mostly working and Monday’s update will actually exist next week.
You guys down in the comments have been super swell! All the small things people have done to help out have been really great. For people who have been asking if they can do anything to help out, I don’t have a donation button (yet, it will happen eventually) but if you have an adblocker, if you could add my site to your exceptions that would help a lot.
Ads provide the only revenue I get from Red Moon Rising, so if you have them blocked I’m actually losing money every time you visit my site due to hosting costs. I also go out of my way to make sure all the ads aren’t dumb pop-up or rollover things that play sound (if they do, let me know) plus the site is set up so the comic page loads first, so I don’t think it should affect your reading experience at all. And don’t get me wrong, if you don’t want to unblock ads that’s also fine! But it would help me out.
And in the meantime I was on a podcast.
Right. Ok. So!
Some of you may have noticed that the site got hacked again last Monday night. Some of the WordPress scripts were being dicked around with, so my host suspended the site and strongly advised me to update WordPress. Unfortunately when I made the site about two years ago (after the first one got hacked, I guess I never learn) I coded the CSS rather badly, so when I had to update WordPress (and subsequently the Webcomic plugin) I basically had to remake the site from scratch. Yeah, whoo
So really it’s half my fault, half whoever was screwing with the site. Though I feel I made up for it by spending 24 straight hours Monday through Tuesday coding to get everything (mostly) working, and then maaaaannny more hours since then. Especially on god damn Saturday when the site broke again for a completely different reason, which turned out to be entirely my host’s fault. Complete waste of time.
Anyway, as the message above the comic says, some stuff is still broken, particularly the secondary pages (About, Cast, etc.) and the archives page is especially broken since all the links to individual comic pages have changed slightly. So I’ll… I’ll have to manually update each of the 226 links in there. This is after having to reattach over 150 comic pages to their respective individual blog posts when the WordPress upgrade made them randomly disassociate. I’ll get on fixing the archives when my soul is feeling a bit less crushed. The actual comics are working now, though. Page 74 went completely missing for some reason, but I re-uploaded it this morning and it seems to be fine.
The favicon seems to be working very sporadically. I have no idea what to do about this? Bear with me.
Also the Sage Comics ribbon that was in the upper left is just gone. I lost the code in this whole mess and I don’t have any way of retrieving it. Sorry Sage guys. :/
On the plus side… ??? Er… well, there are now navigation/archive buttons above the comic as well as below. I hope you all enjoy those, they better be worth it
And after some creative coding by my buddy Greg, the pages should load noticeably faster. If there’s anything else really messed up about the site feel free to mention it in the comments. Rest assured, I am/will get right on working on it.
Oh, and I drew a page.
