Part 2 - Chapter 4
Getting on like a house on fire.
—
This week I learned a lot about drawing spirals in perspective. Like… a
lot
. What idiot wrote that in there, anyway?
What a funny guy.
Oh Sam,
you big liar
.

I didn’t quite intend this page to look like a big hellscape, but once I started with the warm colours I couldn’t really stop. Anyway, dead from backgrounds! I will rise again next week.
Comforting words from Jasper.

Back! I was in Italy while I was away, and don’t even get me started on how many photos I took. Enough to keep me in Dakaia-relevant stock images for the rest of my life, I think. I also came back with a big stack of Italian comics – in short, a very successful holiday! Updates are back on for the foreseeable future, so see you all next Friday!
I’m back in Scotland but fresh off the plane and still not back to my work computer, so no update this week – we’ll get back to the party next Friday. Fortunately, the wonderful
Xenia Streck
has provided this lovely watercolour art of Adrianna circa chapter two of Waterlogged. Thanks, Xenia!
Someone’s always left holding the cake.

I was trying to avoid this, but unfortunately there’s going to be a small break in the update schedule as I’m going to be out of the country for the next week and a half. Not gonna lie, I’m unashamedly off on holiday for the first time in like three years. I was really working overtime to have a buffer up to cover the time I’ll be away, but that bout of stomach flu earlier rather ruined that plan. I will admit I’m a bit bummed out since I’ve worked very hard not to miss any updates since coming back after my back problems, but hopefully I can make this a one off. See you guys in a couple of weeks!
Top banter, Sam.

Pretty pleased this went up on time considering I spent most of the week in bed with what I think now was stomach flu. Now time to spend the whole weekend sleeping!
For Samara’s expression in the first panel, I mostly just thought about what kind of face I would make if someone put something I take very seriously on top of a bunch of cakes.
The ship on top of the cake is made of chocolate. The exhaust cloud is made of spun sugar. The trees are made of marzipan. See you next week!
Who invited these nerds?

I think this is my favourite page so far. Congrats to my friend Liam who, after asking several times to be drawn into the comic, has finally made it in as a one man band.
