Chapter: Part 1 - Chapter 13

Well, that’s gone and done it. The reaction he was hoping for, I’m sure.

Another queued post from the ~past~. Chances are I won’t be too active in the comments section over the next week or two, so behave yourselves! Hopefully it’s not jarringly obvious (I find I’m terrible at judging this) but I made a large change to how I’m inking the comic, having spent the last few days poring over Alex Toth’s work and trying to absorb its inky goodness directly into my brain.

Plus after staunchly maintaining for months that Manga Studio is better for inking than Photoshop hands down, I’ve started doing all my inking in Photoshop again. ooohhh wellll

Wherein Lethe attempts to weasel out of this mess and Renshou asks a question that everyone else has probably figured out the answer to a hundred pages ago. Some small bad news – for this month (and this month only, rest assured) I’m cutting down to only updating on Mondays. Regular readers will know that my boyfriend has the gall and audacity to live in New Zealand while I stupidly insist on living in Scotland, so on the rare occasions we actually get to see each other I tend to drop everything so we can go interlock arms and then skip across fields and whatnot. Unfortunately my buffer of pages only goes so far, so Monday updates are all I can really offer the internet gods, fickle and cruel as they are. Please do not strike me down. 🙁 now that I think about it I was missing all the thursday updates anyway so nothing’s actually changed
Well, I have a good feeling about this conversation! Spent the better part of the weekend designing and sketching that damn courtyard. bloody architecture mumble grumble. Also, I’ve been posting sketches and junk over on Tumblr if you’re into that sort of thing.
Oh, perspective. *shakes fist* Also this page is 9 panels, and that’s a new record for me! Hooray. There’s some minor updates dotted about the site – the archive page is finally working again (I had forgotten it was broken) and I updated the extras section with the wallpapers from a while back. Plus I added a wee link to the French translation of Red Moon Rising in the left sidebar there. They’re up to page 51 now! It makes me a lot happier than is probably reasonable.
Sorry about the missing updates! Needless to say, I’m fussing and hemming and hawing about this scene far too much, but I’m kind of desperate to make sure it’s all just so. Pacing-wise, composition-wise… everything-wise. Going to try and push on some more, though. It’s a silly reason to miss updates.
Welp. I can already tell early on this entire chapter is going to be a giant bitch to do, mainly because I’ve been mulling over these particular scenes in various incarnations for over three years now. Putting them to paper is going to be a rather extreme exercise in not letting perfectionism take over. D: Also, it’s going to be equally difficult not to run my mouth and spoil everything. shutting up now
Back! And kicking off chapter 13 for propers now. Also my wrist is feeling a lot better, thanks for all the tips and stuff, commenting people. 🙂 Seems like it just needed some rest. Just to clarify since a couple of people seemed practically terrified at the prospect, this isn’t the last chapter of Red Moon Rising, just the last* chapter of this arc. Consider it like the season finale. Plenty more to come, I’m going to be at this for years yet at this rate. *Note from the future: Second last.
I’ll come right out with the bad news that there’s going to be no update on Thursday. I’m writing this on Friday (Hello from the past! What is the future like???) and scheduling it to post on Monday, which it will hopefully do. Unfortunately Thursday’s update is fully inked, partially coloured and several hundred miles away from me at this point. I just couldn’t finish it on time before I had to leave, and oh how I did try. I am so sleep deprived right now. Anyway, what I’m getting at is that you’ll have to comfort yourselves with your hovercars and space elevators and whatnot until I get back. FAREWELL All will return to normal by next Monday. In regards to the cover itself, oh yeah, this plot thread. That one from eight months ago. That guy with the… knife-related difficulties. Righto. Does anyone remember him? Well, I’m sure he’s fine, anyway.
