Collection: Part One: Waterlogged
Never mind that last scene, I’m sure it wasn’t even important. And it’s been a while since we’ve seen this handsome devil.

It’s gotten SUPER cold here. I just know the Canadians/Russians/Scandinavians/etc. in the audience are rolling their eyes right about now, but my flat is very poorly heated so you can just all go roll your eyes right into a volcano. It started snowing this evening, so I’ve been forced to move my entire desktop set up (multiple monitors, office chair and all) into our living room because my room is too cold to inhabit now. It was either this or no new pages ’til spring, so…
It’s working out well so far, except it’s made me painfully aware of how much awful wrestling my flatmates watch. It is so terrible. So terrible! Oh my god. It is awful.
Oh, right.
I feel like I should start a separate blog for whatever ailment I happen to have contracted this week, since clearly this is a thing now. This week it was just a shitty cold, but it crashed in on my birthday which I think is probably illegal? And makes it ten billion times worse, statistically, empirically.
Also, for the person on formspring who really wanted to see a picture of Galak with his hair tied back, sorry that this isn’t happening this week, but it will be next week’s vote incentive. Instead I’m going back to bed. It’s probably better in your imagination anyway.
More health-related adventures over here, mainly involving hearing loss, but fortunately they’ve all been wrapped up in a satisfactory manner, so… bam, page!
I’ve started doing the sketches for the page in a manner that’s more like a greyscale underpainting. I’m not sure it’s time-efficient, but I can use it as a base for the backgrounds and the character shading, so I think it’s probably fine. Anyway, you can vote to see it for today’s page.
That kid just exists to be around at awkward moments, I think. In Airin’s defence, this is exactly what I would be doing if any unattended water-filled area presented itself to me.

Also, I kid you not, there’s a new vote incentive! It’s something secret that I am secretly working on. Some of you might know what this is, in which case you’re officially cooler than everyone else.
Ugh, what a year. I don’t know about all of you, but I’m super ready for 2012 at this point.
Anyway, thanks all of you for being so patient, gracious, and supportive. 🙂 My arm’s mostly not broken now, so we can resume our regularly schedule of stomping on all of Lethe’s hopes and dreams. Updates are still going to be Mondays-only for a bit while I pick up some speed again. I feel like I’ve forgotten at least half of what I knew about making comics by this point. 😐
Special thanks to Patience Stewart who provided this great fanart. I was supposed to use it as filler but had myself fooled that I could get an update done anytime I wanted and therefore didn’t need it. Turns out, no, my arm was broken and I’m stupid. Anyway, thanks Patience. 🙂

Another queued post from the ~past~. Chances are I won’t be too active in the comments section over the next week or two, so behave yourselves! Hopefully it’s not jarringly obvious (I find I’m terrible at judging this) but I made a large change to how I’m inking the comic, having spent the last few days poring over Alex Toth’s work and trying to absorb its inky goodness directly into my brain.
Plus after staunchly maintaining for months that Manga Studio is better for inking than Photoshop hands down, I’ve started doing all my inking in Photoshop again. ooohhh wellll

Some small bad news – for this month (and this month only, rest assured) I’m cutting down to only updating on Mondays. Regular readers will know that my boyfriend has the gall and audacity to live in New Zealand while I stupidly insist on living in Scotland, so on the rare occasions we actually get to see each other I tend to drop everything so we can go interlock arms and then skip across fields and whatnot. Unfortunately my buffer of pages only goes so far, so Monday updates are all I can really offer the internet gods, fickle and cruel as they are. Please do not strike me down. 🙁

Well, I have a good feeling about this conversation!
Spent the better part of the weekend designing and sketching that damn courtyard. bloody architecture mumble grumble. Also, I’ve been posting sketches and junk over on 
Oh, perspective. *shakes fist* Also this page is 9 panels, and that’s a new record for me! Hooray.
There’s some minor updates dotted about the site – the archive page is finally working again (I had forgotten it was broken) and I updated the extras section with the wallpapers from a while back. Plus I added a wee link to the French translation of Red Moon Rising in the left sidebar there. They’re up to page 51 now! It makes me a lot happier than is probably reasonable.
